3-day extended tour
Torino (3 nights)
Day 1 - Sat, Oct 6
Pick up at Milan-Malpensa international airportat an hour to be established once everyone’s flight schedules are in. We recommend you book a flight that lands in the early afternoon (2pm – 4pm) as there will only be one transfer to hotel therefore if you remain within our suggested time slot you can avoid having to wait at the airport for a long time if you arrive too early or having to reach hotel by your own means if you arrive too late. Check in and freshen up. Orientation walk around downtown. Early welcome dinner (for Italian standards) to allow guests to recover from day of travelling.
Day 2 - Sun, Oct 7
After breakfast visit the city. Piazza Castello, Palazzo Reale, Palazzo Madama, Piazza Carignano and the Egyptian Museum, the worl'ds oldest Egyptian Museum, its collection ranking second to Cairo's. Lunch in a classic Turinese restaurant. Free afternoon to explore the city further.
Day 3 - Mon, Oct 8
After breakfast continue visit of Turin. Piazza S. Carlo, Mole Antonelliana, Museo del Cinema, Piazza Vittorio Veneto, River Po and the Valentino Castle and Park. Lunch in a restaurant in the center of town. Free afternoon.
Beginning of
mycological stint
Domodossola (3 nights)
Day 4 - Tues, Oct 9
On this day begins the official myco tour. Those participating only in this part of the tour will also be arriving at Milan-Malpensa airport and transferred to hotel in Domodossola. Those who stayed in Turin for 3 nights will also be
transferred to hotel in Domodossola stopping atOrta San Giulio en route, one of the prettiest old lakeside towns anywhere. Aside from its lovely architecture and tangle of narrow lanes, it is the gateway to the lovely Isola San Giulio. On arriving at Domodossola settle into rooms, greet the new guests and go for an orientation walk around town. Welcome dinner for new group.
Day 5 - Wed, Oct 10
After breakfast go on 1st foray in the forests of Val d'Ossola. Have lunch in a local trattoria. Afternoon activity to be determined.
Day 6 - Thurs, Oct 11
After breakfast go on 2nd foray in another area of the Val d'Ossola. Have lunch in a local trattoria. Afternoon activity to be determined.
Ivrea (4 nights)
Day 7 - Fri, Oct 12
After breakfast transfer to hotel in Ivrea. En route stop at Lago Maggiore and take boat to see the Borromeo islands. Isola Madre with its great display of different colored flowers, palm trees and a huge Kashmir cypress, the largest in Europe. Isola dei Pescatori, a picturesque fisherman's village where we'll get a bite to eat. Hop back on the boat to reach Isola Bella. Visit the opulent palace on the island with its stunning grottoes and its elaborate, Baroque gardens of whimsy where white peacocks strut about. Arrive in hotel at Ivrea, check into rooms and stroll through town before dinner.
Day 8 - Sat, Oct 13
After breakfast go on 3rd foray in the forests of the Canavese area. Have lunch in a local trattoria. Afternoon activity to be decided.
Day 9 - Sun, Oct 14
After breakfast go on 4th foray in the forests of the Canavese area. Have lunch in a local trattoria. Afternoon activity to be decided.
Day 10 - Mon, Oct 15
After breakfast go on 5th foray in the forests of the Canavese area. Have lunch in a local trattoria. Afternoon activity to be decided.
ASTI (3 nights)
Day 11 - Tues, Oct 16
After breakfast transfer to hotel in Asti en route foray in the Mandria park, Have lunch in a local trattoria and visit the Venaria Reale. Arrive in hotel in Asti by late afternoon/early evening. Check into rooms, Go for a walk around Asti before dinner.
Day 12 - Wed. Oct 17
After breakfast go on 7th foray in nearby woods. Have lunch in a local trattoria. Have wine tasting in a local winery. Return to Asti in time for dinner.
Day 13 - Thurs Oct 18
After breakfast visit truffle fair in Alba and take part in a truffle hunt. Have a truffle meal.
Hotel near Malpensa (1 night)
Day 14 - Fri, Oct 19
After breakfast transfer to hotel close to airport, Visit Casale Monferrato and Vercelli en route.
Day 15 - Sat, Oct 20
Departure from Milan-Malpensa airport. We recommend you book a flight that departs around noon (11am – 1pm). We will only offer a limited amount of transfers to airport therefore if you remain within our suggested time slot you can avoid having to wait at the airport for a long time if your flight departs very late or having to reach hotel by your own means if your flight departs very early.
In the next few weeks more specific information will be added regarding the afternoon activities and the mycological outings
